Vintage Joe’s Americana

So, I'm trolling Twitter and I come across a video of a couple of people singing and I'm like "ooh, what's this?" Turns out this cute little vintage shop a mile from my house hosts an unadvertised Friday night Open Mic, so of course I had to go check it out

I was so tired I almost didn't bring my guitar but was so glad I did because this ended up being one of the coolest gigs I've been to..

Turns out Joe is the Willy Wonka of Barbie Dolls and Matchbox Cars, Tin signs and other bygone treasures. He greeted us at the door, joyously wearing a pink shirt and Betsey Johnson cloisonne jointed lobster pendant that I immediately drooled over. Customers meander through the store while listeners perch on stylish mid century modern chairs and couches. In a crazy way it felt to me like what Andy Warhol's Factory could have been.

On a night that I was to tired to sing, I was inspired enough to play a little Jambalaya and team up with Thomas, one of the hosts for a dirty Angel From Montgomery.

Hosted by Bach To Rock Music School, this is a fun little family night that I can't wait to get back to.
