21st Annual Arizona Songwriters Conference.

Glendale, Arizona. I love this event. Free to the public, loads of original performances, a chance to hang out with my best buddies, go to some great workshops and indulge in stonefired pizza.

Loved my girfriend time with Dani. She is always such an inspiration to me and it's becoming a tradition to hang out with her at this conference.

This year's best for me was a class on the business and legal schtuff surrounding songwriting. Being a photographer half my life left me well versed on intellectual property laws so it was fascinating to see how they pertain to music. I had recently had a very bad experience that resulted in the loss of a long time friendship because I partnered up without a contract so of course I had a lot of questions .

Most interesting meet up? Getting to know Jim West, author of The Phoenix Sound: A History Of Twang and Rockabilly Music in Arizona. The stories this man can tell! My new autographed copy of his book is soon to be dog eared and worn by my hands. Wonderful time meeting him.

This is an event i know I'll spend many years enjoying and gaining knowledge from. Just one of the many things i'm grateful for.
